About Mayatan Finances
Mayatan Foundation is a registered, tax-exempt, non-profit, non-governmental organization. The Foundation 's Board of Directors oversees the finances of Mayatan Bilingual School - a non-profit organization relying on fees and donations to operate.
A full Annual Report is prepared by the school accounts team, audited by Lázaro J. Serrano Cid, MBA Certified Public Accountant, reviewed by the Board and made available on request. Please contact director@mayatanfoundation.org.
Mayatan Bilingual School charges students regular monthly tuition, as well as an annual registration fee and a book fee. This is a major source of income and provides some of the funding to pay for the school campus, volunteer teacher stipends, and other materials, such as textbooks.

Because Mayatan Foundation is dedicated to “improving education opportunities for students from all walks of life” the Foundation awards scholarships for students to attend Mayatan Bilingual School who would not otherwise be able to afford it. This is an opportunity for such students to gain a quality education and learn English. Two things that will help them to break the cycle of poverty in Honduras.
Mayatan Foundation is currently covering the school costs for students who have been awarded a scholarship place at Mayatan Bilingual School, but are yet to find a sponsor. These additional expenses put a great strain on resources - affecting our ability to improve school facilities and putting on hold future plans of expanding and adding a High School.
For the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years there were no new scholarship students, allowing us time to find new sponsors and locate alternative sources of income. We would like to begin awarding scholarships again as soon as possible.
