Mayatan Competes in National Track & Field Meet!
The track program at Mayatan started 5 years ago with 9 student-athletes and a coach who dreamed of something big for our athletes, school, and community. The first year we participated in the National meet we took home 2 medals and ignited the hopes of something bigger in the years to come...
This past weekend we took 50 student-athletes to the National ABSH Track and Field meet in San Pedro Sula. We left the Estadio Olimpico winning 57 medals, set a new national record, and placed 2nd overall in the Nation as a team. Not to mention the countless personal bests set by each and everyone of our athletes. Including many athletes who have been part of the program for years, earning their very first medal this past weekend! The smiles and look of pride on their faces as we walked out of the stadium spoke for itself.
It is incredible to look at the growth of this program, of our student-athletes, the hard work they put into practice day in and day out, and the overwhelming support and love from our school and community. We are all so extremely proud of these young men and women who have created something special for themselves and our school. Each year our athletes keep improving, keep making us proud, and we can’t wait to see what next year has in store for our Mayatan Track and Field team.
Pride on 3, Pride on 3 …. 1…2…3… PRIDE!
